Wednesday, January 03, 1973

We have said our goodbyes to 1972. It has been a good year in some ways, and sad in others. We have had two deaths in our close family. Elvin, a brother and Orrel Zabriskie a very close uncle. It has been deep mourning over them and for their bereaved families. But though we've suffered losses, we made some gains also. As written before, we got a grandaughter. Shannon Bullough born 9 Nov 1972. another grandaughter; Kathrine Denice Edwards born 29 Dec. 1972 ( Norman and Marie's) Both babies are doing nicely.

We took Claire and Larry with Shannon to the Primary clinic today. She was doing beautifully. She has gained _ weighs 10 lbs. 5 ounces. 22 inches long. Kathie (Norman's baby) weighed in at 7lbs +. Very beautiful little ones.

It has snowed mostly all day. The laid record deep as it was, but it seems we didn't have enough, so got more. Never since records were begun have we had so much snow. 1948 set a record, butthis year 1972 has far out distanced 1948.

Ariel and Ilene are so happy. They were here for dinner last night. The boys look so good. I enjoyed their short visit very much.

New years day the hospital released Marie to come home and we went to see her and the new baby. It was an awful day. So stormy and foggy, but we made it there & back safe & sound. Kathie was born on Lynn's birthday.

While out shopping Jan 2, we took a little time out to visit Aunt Iva and Uncle Clifford. They seemed to be very happy to have us call on them. (They had invited us in the Christmas card they had sent). I was happy to see how well they both looked. Aunt Iva had put on about 9 lbs. and Clifford about 20. They did look a bit older however. Fern (Alfred's wife) and their oldest son were there also to visit them. Richard had just returned from his mission. A very nice boy. Fern said Alfred had had some trouble with his heart, but was better.
