It is two years ago today that Mom passed out of this world. I've thought of her all day. It is raining, and there is a great upheaval in the sky! I'm glad Mother - that you do not have to suffer electrical storms anymore. "Baby" is taking good care of me, while Les is at work, so, all is well.
Clell, Annie, Les & I did go with our trailers to Widtsoe. We left about 8:30 am July the 7, a week ago tomorrow. I was so excited, taking Mabel's picture. I had written telling her we were coming and what time we would be there. We were greatly disappointed to find her not home. There was no note or word left for us, so we went on over to Pine Lake taking the picture with us.
Pine Lake camp grounds were full to overflowing. No empty spot could we find. We decided to camp east of the graveyard, about a quarter of a mile. We found a nice wide spot, and pulled our trailers in facing each other. I prepared Saturday dinner for all of us, and Anna prepared Sundays. We had fun playing cards in the evenings. The wonderful pine smell in the clean air was excellerating. Widsoe was such a fun place to live in the good old days. We returned Monday and dropped the picture off on our way back. Mabel was home and said she had been in Provo looking for fruit. I made mention that we had made the trip primarily because of the picture and had decided to stay in Pine Lake while we had a chance.
Mabel seemed truly thrilled over her painting. She couldn't believe her eyes, and I know she was greatly surprized I could paint as I do. She gave me three big old kisses before you could count ten!
I have just finished a six week course learning how to make bras. I'm delighted with them. It's been difficult getting up & getting my shot and a dozen other things, then getting to Shingleton's Sewing Center by 10 am. I've made it though, and I'm glad it's done. They invited me to come again for the make-up class next Thursday, but I don't think I will go.
After all the to-do about Shannon, she suddenly cut two teeth. She was much better for a few days, but Claire says she has a temperature again today. I suggested it might be her teeth, but the doctor told Claire "Teeth do not make babies sick!"
We left little Cheeko with Ariel when we went last week. Some time during the night he broke his collar and ran away. The family hunted for him, but could not find him. A couple of nights later, he was trying to get back to them and was hit by car, while trying to cross 7th East. He was found and buried by Ariel's family.
