12 o'clock midnight Tuesday, 1 January 1974

The clock just struck out the old year & brought in the new 1974! I will now retire, Les went to bed at 9pm, he has to go to work early in the morning. (He would have stayed up had I ask, but I could see no need for it.) We had our parties during the holidays, and are not too interested in partying all night, just because it's New Years. I can hear a lot of noises outside - firecrackers I believe. To Usher in the New 1974. God grant that it will be a better year than '73 - what with Watergate, a president of our nation in disgrace, the death of our beloved president Harold Bingham Lee, of the LDS church, Will write more later, as I am tired now.
