It surely seems hard to get at writing. It is now the day after Thanksgiving. The time goes like greased lightning! (Except Jan & Feb)
We had a lovely day, and a lovely dinner. Ariel & Lee are moving from Draper, to South salt Lake. They were to our house a year ago and went to Lee's folks this year. Claire's family were with Les & I, We haven't heard from Norman's family.
Little Shannon is just beginning to walk. She is such a sweet baby. I was happy when Larry & Suzy sang in our ward. Claire played the piano very well, and they looked so beautiful. Mike stayed over Sat. night , & went to Sunday School with me. They invited him to pass the sacrament. To see him, filled a long hoped for desire.
Our first semester of paint class ended, and I received the first part of my pay. A check for $54. after deductions. I really got a thrill when I got it. I know that is not much money, but it meant a lot to me. I love to teach oil painting. I think Della is coming over to paint to night. We wont be going back to the high school untill after the holidays. Sometime in Jan 2nd Wed, in fact.
I've been having so much trouble with my back. I have had two attacks that have been so severe. One night found me walking the floor when Les came home from work at 12:30 am. It hurts me now until I can scarcely write.
I finished the basic course in teaching, in Sunday School, last week, by teaching a Sunday School class. (11 year olds) Of course my teacher didn't see any need for me to, as I already teach the inservice class. I enjoyed the class and I am sure they enjoyed me. They gave me their attention very well, & the time was gone before I realized it. Sister Krall was a visitor, and sat with the boys, as she had a son in the class. This makes two courses I have taken in this class in the last year. I also took the genealogy course. (I made a priesthood lineage chart of Nathan Anderson, & after class presented it to the library.)
My physical turned out pretty good. The doctor said I needed to loose more weight, and to always take the high blood pressure pills, insulin & thyroid. It's not so hard on me to take the medicine as it is on the pocket book! The abnormal cells have gone! Oh yay- no cancer!
Claire says she will have the Christmas party for our family. Les and I are having a party here on Dec. 27, for just us Zabriskie kids: Clell & Ann, Lynn & Jeanette & Les & I. Doesn't that sound fun?
I got the friendship quilt back from Ida Burroughs & paid the $15. to the new Relief Society President Betty Anderson, for quilting it. Many of the blocks were done by Mother. Those who quilted on it, have their names embroidered on the edge pieces of the quilt. ( I believe Ida did them.) We have it on our bed and it is nice and warm. By the way-little Kirk was asked what pilgrims were, he said, "People who take pills."
