The wind is either blowing up a storm or blowing one away. It sounds fierce. It is eleven pm. Les has gone to work on the grave-yard shift. It has been a tired day. Almost too much to keep up with. I finished the third pair of little pants for Kirk yesterday. I've made them from a pair of my father's old suit pants, and two pairs of Les'. They turned out nicely _ Kirk loves them. I've sewed for the new baby. I just barely finished them, when the baby came. She was five weeks early, and had trouble with her lungsnot being fully developed. She had difficulty breathing and turned blue. She stayed at the hospital several days after Claire came home. She was born 9 Nov. 1972, at about 10:30 pm, at the LDS hospital. I went and brought the other children to our house. They liked staying over night and I got them to school next morning in time. I kept Kirk a week.
While all this goes on I kept up with Primary and the lesson for the inservice preparation meeting. The reaction after the lesson is what I had humbly prayed for. I asked the Lord to be with me_ to send the Holy Ghost to help me. I felt confident giving the lesson as I had studied it thoroughly _ but this was not enough. I wanted it to be spiritual. It was. After the meeting was over, so many testified of it. I was so happy. I knew it would please the Lord.
We had a break of about three weeks in art class during trhese several weeks since I written before. In this time I've also completed the knitting of Les' sweater. I haven't joined it together as yet however. I've finished reading trhe Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price which is the reading course for Primary.Since moving here last April I've read, The Miricle of Forgiveness, Sermons and Missionary Exper. of Melvin J. Balard, Life Eternal by Lynn McKinley.
I don't know why, but I 've had a driving urge to read all the good books and writings of the church that I can. A driving Urge to get the Peterson Genealogy in the archives. When I was about nineteen years of age., my grandfather, Alfred Christian Peterson was busy doing work for his kindred dead. He had accomplished a lot of it and was telling me about it. He was very happy about it and asked me if I would do something for him. He said, "I have done a lot of temple work for my dead granparents & kin. I have a book, and it shall be yours, if you promise to copy it for me. I gave him my promise. I really didn't understand what he wished me to do. if he had it already in a book, what need did he have of my help? Anyway, I never heard any more about it. Years went by and Grandfather passed away, I married and raised my family. I just couldn't find time to do all I should. I have always been interested in writing and Genealogy. I've done some temple work for the dead.
One day, while my mom was still living in Sandy, She called me on the telephone and said Sister Eleanora was visiting with her. They wished me to join them for lunch. I was happy to accept the invitation. Mother had said they had something to discuss with me, and would tell me when I got there. I was amazed when they showed me a large old temple record book. "When father died I got this book, as I was the eldest child. It has a record of dead kin, for which he has done the temple work. When I die it goes to your mother, and when she dies it comes to you. There was the book my grandfather had given to me, years before. When I opened it I soon understood what he had wanted me to do! I was to copy all those names in family group sheets, and put them in the archives. I have copied them twice. Went up to enter them, only to find errors. My daughter Claire has been helping me to correct those mistakes, and now I shall copy them for the third time. I want them to be right. I will then have kept my promise of long ago.
I should mention here that Clell and Anne were here for dinner Wed. last. They said Pricilla, Dennis' wife, (Elvin and Leonie's son) had been very ill. She had surgery on her colen and was in the hopital for 59 days. Leone had been taking care of her home and family. She said Leaone had written to them and they had called Dennis on the telephone.
