We just returned from a wonderful trip with Clell and Anna. Not long ago Clell and Anna asked us to plan a trip to Tuscon Arizona with them. We had time to make arrangements with their places of employment and left 19 Mar, a Monday, returning Friday the 23rd. We have 4 rolls of movie film taken of the trip. We went east from Flagstaff to Winslow, then to Holbrook. Stopping to see the prtrified forres, then on to Salt River Canyon Via Show Lou where we spent the night. How beautiful was the countrey around these places! We arrived in Tuscon about 3:30 pm, got our motel reservations then on out to the museum in the desert. It was such a glorious trip. We came back to town about 6pm.Dad, had forgotten Alice's address, & it was getting dark. We soon found Erma Ruth Evans Bigalow, Aunt Stella's daughter. Her house was right where we remembered leaving it, but all the area around it had filled up with houses and businesses, that we were lucky to have found it. We were soon in touch with Alice May and Robert Schoenburge. (Dad's brother Joseph Ariel Clawson's daughter.) We spent the evening 21 Mar, with them. Barbara & Julie her sister came over too. Erma Ruth invited us to stay at their house too, and visit with her family, but time was too short, we could not. We left the next morning without seeing any of them again. The trip back by way of pheonix was great until we got to the mountains going into Flagstaff. It had started to snow and before we got to Flagstaff, it ws a ringtailed blizzard. The last fifteen miles into flagstaff took four hours. The traffic ws lined up as far aswe could see both ways. Th big truck and trailer outfits jackknifed, and some almost turned over. Through it all, we were quite comfortable. We were neither hungry or cold. Ann started to take a walk ino the trees alon gthe side of the road, but it gotso deep, it was up to her crotch so she had to come back to the car. She said she felt like a thousand eyes were watching her, and I believe this ws nearly so. Finally we were allowed to go on, and as soon as we got into Flagstaff, we got hotel rooms and then a good hot meal. By morning the road was cleared, and we got out of Flagstaff in good time. We had dinner at Kanab, and then on to Salt Lake and home. It's nice to leave, but it's always great to get back!
